How We Work Across Sectors To Strengthen The Nutrition Data Value Chain

We help governments develop strategic plans for nutrition data that include costing and financing considerations and partner with others to launch national data alliances that support strategy implementation. We are creating tools and resources that will enable stakeholders across LMIC to carry out similar planning exercises.
We are developing new multi-sector nutrition intervention coverage indicators including MIYCN counseling, maternal micronutrients and nutrition-sensitive social protection, conducting research to improve the quality and validity of coverage measurement, designing flexible methods for analysis of intervention co-coverage in key populations, and advocating for inclusion of nutrition coverage indicators in global and national surveys.

In our first project cycle we investigated how data visualization and tools such as scorecards, dashboards and profiles are designed and used by global and national nutrition actors. We developed guidance and provided training to improve data translation across LMIC and continue to support design of a nutrition scorecard in Nigeria.  We are expanding our capacity strengthening efforts by identifying core competencies for nutrition data literacy.

We continue to coordinate the Data for Nutrition Community of Practice and collaborate with others to ensure that nutrition data priorities are being reflected in global, regional, and national nutrition agendas.
